PiRyte Mini Controllers

We are happy to introduce the latest additions to our family of I/O Controllers.

 

This family of PiRyte Mini Controllers offer the following advantages:

  • Each board has a specific function so that you get only the functionality you desire.
  • These boards conform to the phyisical footprint of the Raspberry Pi Foundations HAT (Hardware Attached on Top).  This makes it a lot easier to add other vendor boards to your Raspberry Pi/PiRyte stack.
  • Compatible with other HAT conforming boards.
  • Stacked boards form more robust physical and electrical connections.
  • Boards use either RJ45 (Ethernet) or RJ50 (10 pin) cabling.  This makes it easier to:
    • document long wiring runs
    • test and debug layouts
    • move from a test installation to a permanent layout and to swap boards in and out as needed
  • All output drivers have the option of using on-board 5 VDC, an external power source, or no power source at all.
  • Currently offered only as kits for those who like to be more hands on and to keep costs lower.

PiRyte Mini ATX PSU

 

The PiRyte Mini ATX PSU allows you to power your Raspberry Pi and project boards using an inexpensive desktop power supply.  Additionally, it enforces a controlled shutdown so that the Pi's operating system can properly close down without corrupting disk files.

 

Specifications:
  • Uses inexpensive off the shelf ATX desktop supply. Works with both 20 pin and 24 pin connectors.
  • Enables operating system to perform controlled shutdown and reboots to minimize disk file corruption.
  • You can program the Mini ATX PSU so that it will remember its “power state”.  So, in case of power failure the Mini ATX PSU will automatically turn on the Raspberry Pi when power is restored if it was on previous to the power interruption.
  • Back powers the Raspberry Pi with dedicated 5 VDC line.
  • Screw terminals break out +12 VDC and +5 VDC for user projects.
  • Provides a prototyping area with access to +12 VDC, -12 VDC, +5 VDC, +3.3 VDC, and Ground
  • Conforms to the Raspberry Pi Foundation's HAT footprint.
  • 40 Pin GPIO stacking header allows use of other HAT conforming boards.
  • Comes as a DIY kit to keep costs low.
Operating Modes:
  • Program Mode: The latest revision of the Mini ATX PSU can be programmed to automatically reboot the Raspberry Pi after a power failure
  • Power up: LED pulsates slowly
  • Reboot: LED pulsates slowly
  • Shutdown: LED pulsates slowly until boot up script has ended then pulsates quickly for 10 seconds before shutting off power to the Pi
  • Hard Shutdown: LED dims entire time push button is depressed.  Turns off power after 10 seconds.

PiRyte Mini 8 Channel  Stall Motor Controller

 

The PiRyte 8 Channel Mini Stall Motor Controller enables your Raspberry Pi to control up to eight Circuitron Tortoise type switch machines for your model railroad. 

Specifications:
  • Can control up to eight switch machines or bi-color LEDs.
  • RJ45 jacks allows you to use standard off the shelf CAT5 or greater Ethernet cables for cleaner and more secure routing of wiring.
  • Conforms to the Raspberry Pi HAT footprint and is stack-able with other PiRyte mini boards or third party boards.
  • On board address selects allows for up to eight stall motor controller boards to be attached to one Raspberry Pi.
  • The on board MCP23s08 can be programmed using the [Breezy4Pi](http://Breezy4Pi.com) application, or with the Python, Java, or C languages.
  • Currently available as a kit only with options for either a 40 pin or 26 pin GPIO stacking header.
  • Requires external 12 Volt DC power provided by either a 2.5mm center positive power pack or the on board screw terminals.

PiRyte Mini 16 Channel Digital Input Extender


PiRyte Mini 16 Channel Digital Input Extender adds 16 current protected digital inputs to the Raspberry Pi via an MCP23S017 SPI bus I/O extender.

 

Specifications
  • 16 channels of current protected inputs over two RJ50/RJ45 10 pin (10p10c) cables available separately.  Cabling allows for quick connect/disconnect and clean organization of wiring.
  • Replacing the resistors with 0 ohm jumpers allows the user to individually configure each GPIO as either an input or output.
  • Conforms to the Raspberry Pi HAT footprint and is stack-able with other PiRyte mini boards or third party boards.
  • On board address selects allows for up to sixteen digital input extender boards to be attached to one Raspberry Pi.
  • The on board MCP23s17 can be programmed using the Breezy4Pi application, or with the Python, Java, or C languages.
  • Currently available as a kit only with options for either a 40 pin or 26 pin GPIO stacking header.

PiRyte Mini 16 Channel Digital Output

 

PiRyte Mini 16 Channel Digital Output Extender adds 16 open collector outputs to the Raspberry Pi via an MCP23S017 SPI bus I/O extender.

 

Specifications
  • 16 channels of open collector outputs over two RJ50/RJ45 10 pin (10p10c cables available separately). Cabling allows for quick connect/disconnect and clean organization of wiring.
  • Uses either Raspberry Pi provided +5 VDC or externally provided power to run LEDs, relays, etc...
  • External power is diode protected from reverse polarity
  • Conforms to the Raspberry Pi HAT footprint and is stack-able with other PiRyte mini boards or third party boards.
  • On board address selects allows for up to sixteen digital output extender boards to be attached to one Raspberry Pi.

PiRyte Mini 8 In 8 Out Digital I/O Port
